REMSA 2025 Year End Letter

Dear Valued Members and Industry Partners,

As the first year of my term as REMSA Chairman comes to close, I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on the year and to thank you for your continued support of REMSA. This year has presented many challenges, and with those come opportunities for growth and innovation.

Earlier this year, REMSA participated in another impactful Railroad Day on the Hill, organized by the American Short Line & Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA). With over 275 meetings, the event included over 300 railroaders, industry suppliers, and association representatives. The group shared the freight rail industry’s priorities and educated lawmakers in Washington, DC on how they can support policies that ensure rail remains the safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly transportation option for the country. Save the date for Railroad Day 2026, returning to Washington, DC on March 4.

In May, REMSA, RSI and RSSI partnered together to host Railway Interchange 2025 in Indianapolis. We hope you were among the 450+ exhibitors and 4,000+ attendees, and look forward to seeing you in Omaha, June 2-4, 2026. We’re excited to bring some new aspects to Railway Interchange 2026. For the first time since 2019, REMSA will be hosting outdoor exhibits, located just outside the Omaha Convention Center, where exhibitors will have the opportunity to display larger equipment and offer live demonstrations throughout the week. Additionally, REMSA will be providing courses for engineers to earn professional development credits (PDHs) at Railway Interchange. This initiative will provide rail industry professionals with the opportunity to earn PDH credits while engaging with the latest innovations, technologies, and best practices in railway engineering and maintenance.

In other member initiatives, REMSA’s Innovation Award continues to grow and highlights those REMSA member companies developing new and state-of-the-art products and technologies that make the industry safer and more efficient. Additionally, REMSA’s Undergraduate Scholarship and the Railway Engineering Education Scholarship are more ways in which REMSA is honored to give back to this great industry and help cultivate the next generation of railroaders.

Looking ahead to the new year, REMSA is again partnering with the National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association (NRC) to host exhibits at the 2026 NRC Conference & NRC-REMSA Exhibition in Hollywood, Florida in early January. We hope to see you there!

It has been an honor and a privilege serving as REMSA Chairman this year, and I am looking forward to continuing the work next year. On behalf of the entire REMSA Board of Directors and staff, we wish you a safe and joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year!

Regards,
Nate Bachman
